Initial contact script to find dropship suppliers on Esty
Hello [Supplier First Name],
My name is_____ I’m the [Your title – CEO & Founder] of a successful online retail store named [Your Store Name].
I came across your product (s) on Etsy (Product Name Here ) and just love it! It would be a perfect fit for our audience to buy.
If you are interested in selling more of your product I can help.
If you allow me to sell your product at our successful online store and provide me a discount to make a profit, you can I both win.
We’re already working with suppliers from Etsy (or other platform) & we are achieving great results.
Would this arrangement be of interest you?
This process is commonly known as dropshipping. I would simply add the product to my online store first and sell it to my audience. From there I would place the order with either with you directly or here on Etsy using a discount code you provide to me. I would provide you the customer shipping info and my payment details. At that point you would simply ship the product out to the customer since you own the product. After the product is shipped out you would provide me a shipping tracking ID that I would give to my customer. And that’s it.
If this arrangement works for you just confirm with me the best possible discount you feel is best. Many Etsy suppliers have established a 20 to 50% discount on the product to make it worth our time while still give you a profit. The discount always differs, so it’s up to you.

Step 1: Search for unique, daily selling products on Etsy
The first step as explained in the video above is to go to etsy.com and begin your search for unique but relevant products that are already selling each day.
Look at the etsy reviews and observe those product reviews to see if people like the product they have bought. Count up how many reviews you can see for that specific product. Don’t count up all the reviews for all products being sold by the etsy store owner. Only count up the reviews for the specific product you want to sell yourself.
If there is at least 1 or more reviews being left each day for the product you want to consider sourcing then that’s solid evidence of a hot selling product. Keep in mind that the number of customer reviews do not reflect the total number of sales but rather proof that someone bought the product. There will always be more sales than reviews. So all you’re doing here is searching for proof that the product is selling each day and that people love the product.
Read the reviews and document the specific things people like and don’t like about the product. This data/feedback will help you sell the product better and provide better customer support.
I wouldn’t worry about doing all that customer review research though until you get approved with the etsy supplier.
Step 2: Make your 1st contact with the Esty supplier
When you reach out to etsy store owners you need to be careful you don’t come across as a spammer to etsy’s system. What this means is you can’t fill out a ton of contact forms and send message after message.
It’s best to reach out and contact around 4 or 5 etsy store owners to make your pitch and then do another batch about 20 minutes later. Spread out the frequency of your contact in other words.
Once you reach out to the etsy store owner chat or speak with them to see if you can talk real quick on the phone for about 5 or 10 minutes. It’s far more effective to speak with the owner in person via phone than rely only on chat or email. Remember there’s never a better substitute for high conversions than live, transparent, authentic, human connection.
When speaking with the etsy store owner go through the major topics in the initial contact script above. When you’re done speaking with them you should have a clear answer from them about your working relationship. You’ll do the selling & customer support, they’ll do the warehousing and shipping. Confirm with them the discount you’ll receive to make each sale profitable for you. Share some info about how you’ll sell their products to make money for both parties. If they have time talk about the ordering and shipping process and time-frame. And that’s pretty much about it at this point.
Step 3: Start selling your new Esty sourced products ASAP
You want your newly established etsy supplier to take you seriously. Don’t waste their time by contacting them to be a supplier for you right now if you’re not ready to sell their products. If you’re only a week or two away from launching your dropship store then you’re totally fine.
Too many novice retailers reach out to suppliers prematurely then sit around on that relationship which is not a good sign. Both you and especially the supplier wants to see sales coming in.
