Thanks for following along in this 3 part series about the top filters to consider using when choosing profitable products to retail on your dropshipping store.
The 2 final filters to consider using when choosing the right niche products are:
- Brand loyalty
- The right audience
Let’s jump into the details…
5th Filter: No Brand Loyalty
If your target audience is loyal to buying a certain brand of product over another this can make your drop shipping journey very difficult because you are competing against companies that have created loyal fans of their products, they’ve been around for years and have enormous marketing budgets. They are in other words the “big gorilla” in the room that you want to be aware so you don’t get smooshed!
To illustrate my point about brand loyalty, think about the brand of computer you would buy right now? Apple, Microsoft, Dell, Asus, Acer or? The majority of computer consumers are extremely brand loyal. There are in fact groupies, or dedicated followers who will only purchase Apple!
Now, think about the brand type you would buy for a comfortable reclining camping chair? Uhmmm…not many brands come to my mind that would convince me to buy one type of chair over another. As long as the reclining camping chair is comfortable and good quality I’m buying it.
Do you see the difference between the two examples above?
It’s best to choose a product to sell via drop shipping coming from suppliers that is NOT depending on the brand to persuade or influence your audience to buy it. That way you won’t be up against these huge companies that are already spending money to come to them to buy their products.
The 6th Product Selection Filter: An Audience Earning Extra Money
Does the product you are about to sell lend itself to attracting people with money? If not you should reconsider the core products you are going to sell because people with extra money obviously are going to be far more willing to buy something right now, instead of later which makes your life easier.
Selling products to a starving artist takes more time. Selling products to someone with extra money, like I said earlier, is super easy. As long as your audience has extra money and it makes sense to buy it from you they’ll do it.
You might be wondering….”well, how do I know I’m selling products to people earning extra money?”
Statistically, people usually making $80,000 in Gross Income and upwards are usually in the bracket of earning extra income. Those are great people to get to know and understand what kind of products they are most interested in because it makes your life as a business owner easier.
You can of course sell products to anyone you wish in any income bracket of your choice, but what I’m specifically wanting to do myself is make my drop ship business “Less Time Consuming” not more!
The less money people make and the more money people make they become pickier and complain more. I want to target selling my products to people who obviously are less likely to complain and return my products. This all happens when you choose products that attract people with extra income in their lives.
Thanks you points on brands makes sense to me, but as you you pointed out briefly about audience of extra income.
How can one know such income bracket among potential buyers?
Visiting the census.gov website is a good source. Thanks Fred
Good morning. I would like information on companies that doesn’t require you to purchase items to sell. I prefer in style men’s / teen or women’s / misses clothing that is shipped directly from the manufacturer.
Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thank You, Stephanie
